Terms

Shoppers use BOBO for free. A business can be listed for free. Featured is a paid placement that renews automatically until you cancel. We can raise Featured prices later. A price you already paid does not change until that month or year ends, and we will tell you before a renewal goes up.

BOBO (“we”) is a directory of Black-owned and Black-operated businesses. We are not the businesses listed here, not their agent, and not a guarantor of their work. A listing is not our endorsement. Write us at founders@bobodmv.com.

Browsing is free. An account needs an email, a name, and a password, or Google or X. A photo is optional. You must be 18 or older to make an account. You will not post a review you know is false, harassing, or unrelated to the business. We may remove a review or close an account that breaks these terms.

Sending a listing means you are allowed to speak for that business. You promise it is at least 51% Black-owned and Black-operated, that it is not a multi-level marketing scheme, and that the name, photos, hours, and ownership claims (including women-owned or veteran-owned) are true. We may ask for a public page or other proof before a Verified badge. We may refuse, edit, or take down a listing. Approval is our decision.

Today, Listed is $0. Featured is $12 a month or $99 a year, unless the price on the pricing page at the time you pay is different. Shoppers are not charged. We may change prices, plans, and what a plan includes. A new price applies to new signups right away. For a plan you already paid for, the price stays the same until the end of that paid month or year. We may charge more on the next renewal only if we notify you at least 30 days before the renewal date. If you do not want the new price, cancel before the renewal and you will not be billed it. We do not refund a month or year you already paid, except where the law requires a refund. If we have not started charging cards yet, these rules apply once paid Featured begins.

Featured is an automatic recurring payment, not a one-time charge. When you start a paid Featured plan, you authorize BOBO to charge the card on file through Stripe at the start of each billing period: every month if you chose $12 a month, or every year if you chose $99 a year. The charge repeats until you cancel. We will show the amount, the billing period, and that it renews before you pay. Canceling stops the next charge. It does not refund the month or year already paid, except where the law requires a refund. You keep Featured until the end of the period you already paid for. A founding business who later continues at $99 a year is on the same automatic yearly renewal unless they cancel before that year renews.

The first 200 approved businesses in Baltimore, Prince George’s County, Montgomery County, and Washington, DC may be offered 90 days of Featured at no charge, then $99 for one year if they continue. No card is required to start those 90 days. If they choose to continue, that $99 year is an automatic recurring payment and the locked price for that one year. It renews each year after that unless they cancel before the renewal date. After the locked year ends, a higher renewal price follows the price-change rule above. The offer can close when 200 businesses are in it, or when we say it has ended. It is not a promise of customers.

We do not promise views, taps, sales, ranking, or that a shopper will hire you. Stats, when shown to a Featured business, are counts from this app, not an audit. Maps, Instagram, and other links leave BOBO, and those sites have their own rules.

You keep ownership of your photos and text. You give BOBO permission to show them in the directory, on the business page, and in sharing cards for as long as the listing or review is up. You promise you have the right to those photos. You can ask us to take a listing down, and we will stop displaying it within a reasonable time, aside from copies already shared or required to keep for a dispute.

You are responsible for your sign-in. We may suspend a shopper or a business that breaks these terms, misstates ownership, or uses the app to mislead people. You may stop using BOBO at any time. Canceling Featured stops the next charge. It does not erase a review someone else wrote.

BOBO is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost customers, or indirect damages, and our total liability related to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing. You will cover us against claims that come from a false listing, a photo you did not have rights to, or your products and services.

Maryland law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Maryland are the venue, except where a law says a shopper or a business may sue closer to home. Please write us first and give us 30 days to try to fix the problem.

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change. If a change is material, we will post the new terms before they apply. For a price increase on a renewal, the 30-day notice rule still controls. Using BOBO after the new date means you accept the update. If you do not accept it, stop using the app and cancel before the next charge.
